Aleut 1340Thailand-based design office ‘Albatross Marine Design’ has developed the new 44’ expedition power catamaran, described as wave-piercing coastal passagemaker. The styling of DN44 is based on North American style but adding a bit of fashion to extremely practical lines. The exterior of boat is powerful but also elegant. The interior of the boat can be selected by each owner, and is designed to allow longstay guests on board. Accommodations include:
Engine rooms have access from deck and are separated from living compartments by watertight sound-insulated bulkheads. Collision bulkhead and integral tanks in bottom provide extra safety in case of collision or grounding. The hull shape is slender, efficient and incorporates fine bow with plenty of topsides flare at bow to reduce wetness, widened transom platform for support of hull at higher speeds, and also 3’ of bridgedeck clearance for excellent seakeeping. Hull material – FRP sandwich. Bottom is Divinycell H100 core with Aramid/E-glass fabric BX KE-BXM 1708 from Vectorply as reinforcement. Sides, deck and cabin use Divinycell H80 with TX E-TLX2200 fabric. The structure is designed to ISO12215-5 structural rule. Two engines of 230HP can provide top speed of 17 kts with full load. The range of boat at cruising speed is about 500 nautical miles. In general, the boat is designed to CE/ISO standards and complies with category ‘B’. Boat also complies to ABYC standards as ‘a must’ for American market. Albatross Marine Design was responsible for design and engineering of DN44 supplying full set of presentation materials, construction/classification drawings and engineering calculations. Albatross works with builders worldwide – in Asia, Europe, Australia – having on average one launch of new every month boat from their drawing board. Siam Catamarans have the exclusive rights to the DN44 for Thailand, and will deliver the complete boat or as required, with CE/ISO certification. |
